Throughout University I have developed an interest in visually documenting subjects that I can personally relate to. Especially areas that affect my life in a dramatic way. Due to being diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) during my time at University, this year I decided to transfer my concerns and fears into a project. I enjoy the hand made aspect of work this is why I have experimented with materials such as string to inform my project. The string is used to portray the severity of IBD through scarring and surgery. My aim was to highlight my personal frustration of how others see this illness as just an eating disorder or diet irregularity and not the debilitating disease that it is.
I also enjoy photography, documenting the ordinary and the mundane and making it beautiful. This is shown through my photography of lost objects and urban decay.
