My work recently has mostly focused on the ideas of ritual and fanatical devotion. For my final project I focused on destructive cults of the latter half of the 20th Century and made a book centred around the People’s Temple new religious movement that culminated in the events of Jonestown.

Originally my interest was rooted in my dissertation subject matter where I looked at ritual within folk tradition and art. I am definitely interested in things on the outskirts of society, and when writing about the film The Wicker Man and similar representations of ritual I felt that the jump to looking into the obsession and devotion of cults was a logical move.
